Denison PV06,07,08 Series – Pressure Compensator

The pressure compensator can be compared to a relief valve. When the pressure in the valve is accelerated then the flow is directed to the pistons that are pushed against the hanger mechanism, making the angle of the cam plate lessened. If you have more distance, then the hanger gets depressed.  While it lowers the volume but will still keep the same amount of pressure on the hanger. And the volume will stay reduced til the bottom stop is engaged. It will only do this when it is not wanting to go to zero volume delivery.

The adjustment lets the pump know when to slow down the volume.  There is a knob on the top of the pump housing. Always look to see if you put the lock nut on tight when you do an adjustment.  And when you do a minimum amount, it will work the same way.
