Pump Cartridge

The cartridge depends on the rotor which is driven by the ring in the driveshaft, that goes to a power source. When the rotor turns the centrifugal force on the vanes, that is helped by the vanes by under vane pressure that is fed from the outlet port. This makes the vanes follow the elliptical inner surface of the ring.

The radial movement of the vanes and the rotor going around makes the chamber volume that goes between the vanes to get bigger as the vanes pass the inlet section of the ring.  The result of this action is lower pressure condition that will let the atmosphere pressure to be drive the fluid into the chamber.

If there is another inlet fluid path it will escape thru a drilled hole in the cam ring.  This hole put the two together in the inlet port that goes right into the inlet areas of the cam ring and gives it another flow way for the fluid to get in the cartridge.

Any fluid that is in and between the vanes is taken past a sealing section to the outlet section of the ring. As you get upon the sealing section the chamber volume is lessened and the fluid is made to go out into the system. The system pressure is made to go under the vanes, that will seal contact upon the ring during normal operation.

 

Vane Pressure Feed

This vane system gives it the means of controlling the outward thru of the vane next to the ring and stabilizes  the tip load within limits. Within the cartridge, the full system pressure is constantly giving the area between the vane and the insert. The area is limited in space so the thrust is light to accommodate for that. When vane pressure goes thru the pressure areas, the system pressure is pushed up against the bottom area of the outer vane. The valving of pressure goes thru holes drilled in the rotor. Thus selective processes of pressure give the vane the needed hydraulic balance it needs in all positions.
