First take out the fuel tank. Make sure to clean it really good on the outside of the transmission, then take out the control pump. Use the filter caddy on the reservoir to let all the oil drain out.
Next take off all hoses, fittings, cap screws and the pump. On the install put new orings before you put the pump in. Put your control pump on next, along with cap screws and washers. Then tighten them up. Put your fittings and hoses back on, then fill the reservoir up with fluid (oil).
For earlier pumps two lip seals are needed. Put in the inner seal with lip aiming toward the gears and outer seal with the lip away from the gears.
If you have a later pump it uses one seal and put it towards the gears. Always put new seals, orings and shaft seals when installing your unit back on. Do not need contamination.
