Electrical Controls for Machines – Fuses

There are three types of fuses:
Standard one time fuses or a renewable fuse link
Time Delay or dual element
Current Limiting

Standard fuses usually have a 250V to 600V. You can get higher voltage. They come in ranges from a fraction to 600, you can get these in almost every kind except for the current Limiting. They range from 600v and higher. Your standard fuse has a low temperature metal strip. If the voltage is too high the strip will melt and shut off.
The Dual Element is meant to deal with heavy overloads that last for a short period of time. The feeds are closed during a short circuit load and open when it last longer.
The Current Limiting fuse is when you have an extreme high current that feeds into a fault on a short circuit. It also has a relatively fast opening time. It is a solid state control circuit, which is good for when a short circuit is in the output load which can lead to damage if it didn’t have that application within it.
