We will discussing Hydraulic Cylinders

Single Acting Cylinders
A cylinder in which fluid pressure is applied to the movable element in only one direction.

Ram Cylinders
A cylinder in which the movable element has the same cross-sectional area as the piston rod.

Double Acting Cylinder
A cylinder in which fluid pressure is applied to the movable element in either direction.

Single Rod Cylinder
A cylinder with a piston rod extending from one end.

Double Rod Cylinder
A cylinder with a single piston and a piston rod extending from each end.

Telescoping Cylinder
A cylinder with nested multiple tubular rod segments which provide a longer working stroke in a shortretracted envelope.

Tandem Cylinders
Consists of two or more cylinders mounted in line with pistons connected by acommon piston rod; rod seals are installed between cylindees to permit double acting operation of each. A tandem cylinder gives increased output force when the bore size of a cylunder is limited, but not it’s stroke.

Duplex Cylinders
Consists of two cylinders mounted in line with pisto nsnot connected; rod seals installed between cylinders to permit double acting of each. Duplex cylinders give a 3-position capability.
