First you pass one of the retaining rings over the internal end of the shaft and put in the groove near the shaft seal surface. Don’t put the ring over the seal surface. Now put the bearing over the same end as the ring and put it up against the ring.  Hold up the inner race of the bearing and press it on the coupling end of the shaft.  Try not use a lot of pressure when doing this, it will cause damage to the retaining ring.  Next put in the other retaining ring in the other ring groove. Make sure they are down in there good.
